“Wander for the mind” means…
Wander: to roam freely without inhibition or a set destination.
Allow yourself to wander, without inhibition, without worry. It rejuvenates.
Are you stuck? Confined to a cubicle 9-5, mind with your brain caged into processing statistics and data? Or maybe you are a stay at home mom at the mercy of the schedule of your 3 kids who have recently finger painted your freshly painted walls (disclaimer, I’m not a parent but I sure do remember the fun of finger painting on a clean surface….).
I invite you to close your eyes wherever you are for one moment. Maybe your computer screen is blindly staring at you, or the dog is yapping to go outside and eat poopsicles in the mud for the 500th time, or your 3 year old has decided that your name is best said at the top of his lungs 50 times in a row. Take a moment for your mind to wander. Envision nature at it’s finest, dew on the leaves, fresh scent in the air, a river flowing in front of you. Let your mind wander where it wants to go.
Wandering is as small and simple as this moment. It can also be a spontaneous road trip with an old friend, an outing to a new bakery, or a walk around a lake your shoes haven’t previously touched touched. Wandering can be large- a vacation to a remote and unseen destination, or it can be small (but not insignificant).
Life is a series of adventures around every corner. The best wandering is done when you take the road less traveled. After all, not all who wander are lost…
