Friends, I apologize for dropping off the face of the earth. I know it has been a while since I have posted any rants about spandex violations and real peoples’ health and fitness stories. But peeps, holy cow I have been busy (no fear, still squeezing in workouts…)! Between personal training you fine folks, running group exercise, specialty class, personal training, and youth basketball departments, and a whirlwind of a move, I have been left a little breathless lately (or maybe that is because I haven’t squeezed in enough cardio…hmmm…no no, let’s blame it on the move….I’m just going to ignore the fact that my spandex is a wee bit tighter after the past month of crazy, but hop on the “stop eating apple fritters and stale Halloween candy” train starting now…).
But man oh man do I have exciting things on the horizon. I have been researching and writing and programming and cutting deep into the core of what builds a healthy lifestyle, and am I excited to share these things with you in many posts down the line, but today I want to share with you an exciting adventure I get to go on next week!
Through the generosity of a few different agencies, I have the opportunity to train with 17 other fitness coordinators and directors at the Cybex Headquarters in Massachusetts. What is Cybex you ask? Cybex International, Inc. is one of the leading fitness equipment companies. I get to spend 5 days at the Cybex Research Institute earning about the kinesiology and science behind their exercise equipment. The coolest part of it all? All of our labs are conducted on the showroom floor, which means
I will be a kid in a candy shop I’ll be a personal trainer in an anti-candy shop (a very shiny, awesome anti-candy shop). I am passionate about educating those around me about proper usage of equipment, and I am hoping to share what I learn with YOU over the course of the week to help you improve your strength and cardio workouts.
To kick it all off, I’d like to share with you a few Cybex apps that you may find useful that I found while researching the CRI program! If you are a fitness coordinator or director, check out the Cybex Brochures app. This app conveniently places Cybex equipment brochures in one location so you can easily check out the latest and greatest equipment for your facility.
If your gym has a Cybex Bravo, there is an AWESOME app called Cybex Bravo. You enter your height into the app, and it calculates your settings for 20 exercises that can be completed on the machine. You can even enter the type of handle you have clipped into the machine, and the weight that you lifted. This is an awesome one!
If your facility has Cybex cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, ARC trainer) the CybexFit app is also awesome! You input your weight and age, program your workout based on what your cardio and strength goals are for the day, and sync your tablet or phone with the actual machine. It is an app that is super handy and I recommend you check out!
So there you are, friends. Apologies for the delay, but cheers to moving forward with research so I can continue to help you lead a healthy lifestyle. I would LOVE to hear what your favorite fitness apps are, or what your favorite gym equipment is! Please leave a comment with either!
Please note, I am not compensated for blogging about my experience at the Cybex Research Institute, nor do I have any affiliation with Cybex International, Inc. All opinions are my own and not that of Cybex International, Inc.
